i'm starting over
welcome to plethora (my new newsletter that you should definitely subscribe to)
Hi all! Below is a repost—you can find the original here where I’ll be posting on Substack from now on. It’s been a lovely journey writing my way through my early twenties, but it’s time for a fresh start. If you’ve enjoyed claudeata, I hope you’ll join me over at Plethora. I’ll still write about food, but I’ll also be writing about everything else that piques my interest. Thank you for your support over the years!
Welcome to Plethora, a newsletter dedicated to my idiosyncrasies and all the things that don’t make it into my journal (because they’re worth sharing)! I love routines and rituals, trinkets and tchotchkes, food and fashion (wow that worked out perfectly). This is a place for Claudia in excess, so if you like me and my interests, hop on in.
I love the word “plethora.” It was first introduced to me by my parents when I was working on my hat project in the third grade. My mom explained how we could bring the word to life, among other words, and I liked the idea of throwing a bunch of buttons, bells, coins, beads, and flowers onto a baseball cap the best. As they say, the rest is history.
In college I started posting excerpts of my senior project to Substack in order to share my work with the Real World and get feedback on it from people outside of my workshop class. Because my project was centered around my relationship to food, the newsletter quickly turned into a food diary of sorts once I graduated. But I was never really that inspired to write. By some stroke of luck food became my job and my interests shifted. Long story short, I’m starting over.

As a high schooler, I was obsessed with print media and all the glossy digital pubs that were experiencing their heydays. I loved learning about what products the downtown girls were slathering across their cheeks or which pair of boots made for the perfect pair of stompers. Somehow I worked my way up to editor-in-chief of my school’s newspaper which made me fall in love with the editorial process. Seeing a concept come to life on the page was thrilling! And that’s what I hope to achieve here!!!!! (I have a degree in creative writing, and my parents and I would love to put it to use!!!!!)
Whether you know me in real life or from the claudeata newsletter, thank you for being here!
